Learning Objectives & Outcomes
Through learning experiences that will build sequentially as the week progresses, the Hawaii Facilitators’ Playshop,
will provide you with a practical understanding of the basic communication, orchestration and musical techniques necessary
to successfully lead and facilitate groups of any size and composition through a rhythm experience.
By completion of this training, you will have the basic skills necessary to lead your own rhythm events
and to build community in your personal and working environments.
The ultimate outcome of the intensive training is for participants to develop the facilitation,
leadership and musical orchestration skills required to successfully lead ryhthm events that
promote community building in multiple settings.
At the completion of the Hawaii Facilitators' Playshop participants will:
- Have the skills to lead groups through a community rhythm event.
- Learn a minimum of 18 rhythm facilitation techniques.
- Apply facilitation techiques to the 10 body language tools taught.
- Orchestrate group rhythm experiences using
a variety of percussion styles, techniques and instruments.
- Develop a unique personal facilitation style.
- Utilize effective communication and leadership skills in facilitating rhythm events.
- Begin to develop a supportive rhythm community.

Training Program Content

A safe and nurturing environment is created providing support for self-expression, experimentation and feedback. Learning from mentors and advanced facilitators provides diverse experiences for all participants. Each participant will have multiple opportunities to facilitate as we build our rhythm community throughout the week.
As a participant you will experience the group transformation from individuals into a dynamic supportive rhythm community.
Networking with international facilitators provides new learning opportunities, inspires creativity and builds the foundation for new and growing friendships that will span the globe.
The Hawaii Facilitators’ Playshop culminates in a community drum circle finale, giving facilitators the opportunity to experience a community drum circle and to put into practice the skills learned throughout the week.
