A safe and nurturing environment is created providing support for self-expression, experimentation and feedback. Learning from mentors and advanced facilitators provides diverse experiences for all participants. Each participant will have multiple opportunities to facilitate as we build our rhythm community throughout the week.

As a participant you will experience the group transformation from individuals into a dynamic supportive rhythm community.

Networking with international facilitators provides new learning opportunities, inspires creativity and builds the foundation for new and growing friendships that will span the globe.

The Hawaii Facilitators’ Playshop culminates in a community drum circle finale, giving facilitators the opportunity to experience a community drum circle and to put into practice the skills learned throughout the week.

Musicality

Playing music together is what we enjoy most. The Hawaii Facilitators’ Playshop offers an abundance of opportunities to play improvisational community music.

Both musicians and novices will experience specific percussion activities designed to develop musicality through building on the rhythm sensibilities inherent to each of us.

Trainings are designed to provide Facilitators experience with:

  • practice in basic rhythm and percussion skills.
  • a variety of musical styles, forms and instruments.
  • pitch dynamics, timbre discrimination & tempo variations.
  • experience feeling the pulse while playing in the groove.
  • musical improvisation using a variety of instruments, body-music, vocals and group drumming activities.
