Village Music Circles™
Level 1 Intensive Facilitator Training
Basic & Intermediate Rhythm Facilitation Skills
Techniques • Technologies • Philosophies
Level 1 Participants will have an opportunity to learn facilitation skills directly from Arthur
Hull. This intensive training allows participants to practice and learn the techniques and
technologies defined and developed by Arthur Hull’s 30 years of experience pioneering the
field of rhytmical empowerment. Arthur’s Book, Drum Circle Spirit, Facilitating Human
Potential Through Rhythm, will be the text for this course.
This week-long training will immediately connect facilitators to a supportive rhythm community
while providing extensive opportunities for the practical experience needed to learn and develop
facilitation skills in a safe environment. Participants of all levels will receive peer, mentor
and advanced facilitator support.
This week goes beyond the weekend training with the presentation of more techniques, developing
style, increasing depth, and extensive practical experience. More time is given for individual
attention, critiques, and skill building.
This program is an intense learning experience and participants must come ready to work, process,
and grow. Participants will have time to interact directly with Arthur Hull and network with their
international Drum Circle Facilitation community.
“It was great to see the confidence of people rise, as well as their
ability to work with the circle...people definitely experienced a life changing event.”
Program Content
During 50 hours of training and activities, participants will have extensive practice opportunities in facilitation
techniques and the skills needed to lead a drum circle event for a variety of populations and group
sizes.
Technical aspects of faciliatation are taught through Arthur Hull’s Triplicity Facilitation
System™. DCF techniques, physical logistics and faciliation philosophies will be covered.
The program format will include group instruction and discussions combined with small group
break-out exercises that reinforce the learning of the foundational facilitation elements presented.
Exercises are taught sequentially so as to become progressively complex as the facilitators’
skills develop.
Participants experience multiple small group activities using movement, voice, musical
instruments, and improvisational rhythm games. Peer group and mentor leaders offer critique and
feedback, which are important parts of the learning process.
This program includes extensive opportunities to freely experiment during free-form community
“jump-time.” Here participants have many hours of fun practicing new skills in the
safety of their rhythm community.
Opportunities for networking with other DCFs of many cultures, backgrounds and experience levels
provides stimulation and inspiration to developing facilitators.
