The Playshop Experience

The annual Hawaii Facilitators’ Playshop provides beginning and advanced Facilitators with over 50 hours of  Drum Circle Facilitation Training.

This week-long experience will immediately connect facilitators to a supportive international community while providing extensive opportunities to learn and develop facilitation skills in a safe environment.

As a part of their leadership experience, Mentors will be utilized throughout the Playshop to provide support and assistance to level 1  participants.  Through out the week, our community grows as we support each other through the learning process.

The Hawaii Playshop is a multi-cultural event and often includes participants from over 15 countries globally. Networking with international facilitators provides unique learning opportunities, inspires creativity and builds the foundation for new and growing friendships that will span the globe and last a lifetime.

Developing Musicality

Playing music together is what we enjoy most. The Hawaii Facilitators’ Playshop offers an abundance of opportunities to explore and play improvisational community music. Using a variety of instruments, body-music, vocals, song and group drumming activities, musicians and novices will build on their natural rhythm sensibilities.

  • Learn basic rhythm and percussion skills.
  • Discover a variety of musical styles, forms and instruments.
  • Explore use of pitch dynamics, timbre discrimination & tempo variations
  • Practice finding the pulse while playing in the groove.
  • Experience the excitement of musical improvisation
  • Enjoy the fun of community making music together!
