Educational Conferences for Teachers
Participants leave with an understanding lodged deep in their cells that has no words. Your ability to communicate the concepts of rhythm and community building through your stories and sounds is both powerful and humorous. —Nancy Bader, Conference Coordinator Along with opening ceremonies at education conferences and teachers associations, we make the Village Music Circles format available to education professionals through hands-on workshops where non-musicians can learn to facilitate rhythm- based events with kids. Using his unique and effective facilitation techniques, Arthur Hull offers training programs for teachers who wish to integrate rhythm-based events into their teaching curriculum. Based on his book, Drum Circle Spirit, Arthur offers 3-day national training programs and an annual week-long facilitators intensive on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a facilitators training in your town. If you are interested in other facilitators training workshops, please visit the events calendar on the Arthurian International Community Site.
Conference Participants Conference participants became immersed in the beat, rhythm, and message that your musical activity conveyed: cooperation and community. Between Village Music Circles workshops and the group entertainment you provided during opening and closing sessions, most of the 1,500 people who attended the two day conference were able to make music. It was really fantastic to listen to and watch the various groups as they transcended their self-consciousness and blended together to create a melodic meaningful sound. Each participant seemed to radiate enjoyment and self-satisfaction. The sounds of drums and voices floated beyond the music makers themselves, permeating the convention center with a happy, joyful beat which created an upbeat mood for all who attended Conference 1992. —Kathy Grant, Executive Director |
